Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Your interpretation of beauty greatly depends on where you come from and/or where you live. Beauty is subjective and very personal. For example, in Koine Greek, beauty was associated with “being of one’s hour.” Therefore, a fruit hanging on the vine ripened to the perfect moment for consumption was considered beautiful. But, a young woman dressing and trying to appear older or a mature woman dressing and acting as if she were younger, would not be perceived as beautiful. In Attic Greek, hōraios had many meanings. This includes “youthful” and “ripe old age.” My own interpretation of beauty includes people of all ages. Each year of your life can be your “best year” where you feel the most beautiful and attractive.
